Discover the rich natural and cultural heritage of Southern Laos in this unique half day tour. Led by local villagers, explore the biodiversity-rich Mount Asa on the back of an elephant, the 90 minute elephant ride (2 people per elephant) takes you through the forest and up to Mount Asa.
As you travel on the back of your elephant, enjoy the views of the Xe Pian Protected Area. Xe Pian stretches along the Mekong River and is comprised of a variety of ecosystems such as wetlands and forests inhabited by wild elephants, gibbons and many species of birds.
From the top of Mt Asa, a short walk will bring you to another world where you will discover the remnants of an ancient civilisation. On the way back to your hotel, stop at the village of Ban Nong Bune which specialises in wood carving. This community-based tourism project was set up to promote environmental awareness about elephant conservation and is run by the Ban Kiet Ngong villagers.
