Immediatly on the banks of the Mekong River and well out of town are these delightful well-spaced bungalows. You look over to Thailand from the your own terrace, ideally whilst enjoying your first Beer Lao.

There are 20 Lao-style villa/bungalows, each made from solid teak and rosewood. They have cool, high ceilings and are furnished in traditional style, with mosquito nets, electric fans and large bathrooms.

Most visitors only stay one-night, en route between Huay Xai and Luang Prabang, but a second is by no means a mistake!

The central riverside restaurant is linked to the villas by raised wooden platforms and serves a good range of locally sourced food. If you want to find where it comes from, get up early and head to Pak Beng to visit the morning market before your boat whisks you on again to Luang Prabang (downstream) or Thailand (upstream).
